Position Description: Parts Driver & Warehouse associate

Reports to: Parts Manager

 Position Summary:   The Parts Driver delivers and picks up parts and equipment for the dealership. Additionally, this position fulfills all shipping and receiving functions within the warehouse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery or pick-up.
  • Order parts not in stock as approved by the Parts Manager.
  • Assist with organization and cleanliness of parts department.
  • Receive and stock incoming inventory. Verify receipts against purchase orders.
  • Assist with periodic inventory vehicle counts as directed by supervisor.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
  • Deliver parts and equipment to customers and vendors.
  • Help maintain the professional appearance of the parts department.
  • Maintain the parts delivery vehicle; ensure it is clean and operating properly.
  • Assist the parts to service counter parts sales associate as necessary

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

Educational: High school diploma or the equivalent. 

Experience: One year in a vehicle parts department preferred. 

Special Skills (i.e., licenses, certifications, etc.): Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Ability to work well with the public. Ability to use personal computer and applications including word processing and spreadsheet applications. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple reports.  Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one with customers, employees and vendors. 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certifications, Licenses, & Registration: 

Current, valid, driver’s license; satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) are required.

The employee frequently is required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach with hands and arms, take and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift 40 pounds of material. Is potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle dealership. Occasionally, exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
